Got onto 966 to Admiralty MRT Station, caught a train to Boon Lay MRT Station, bought an expensive $2 breakfast of kway teow, boarded service 182 (which took almost forever to arrive) on the last leg of the journey. It took almost 2 hours. Got to the office close to 10am. Boarded 966 at 715. You do the math.
Walked in as though nothing happened. Everyone was asking where I went. Told them I was here, I was there, etc. But well... no harm done I guess.
The day wasn't busy, but it was frustrating when one of our Malaysian suppliers did not respond to a situation alert we had. Finally, with Zamri, my immediate packaging contact person, we both decided to bill the supplier for whatever costs we were to incur with the incident we had. I think I must have shot of a few mails on this topic. And I worried, that for a newbie, I might have shot off my mouth. Here's a clip of the mail I sent to all line leaders, QA IC, regional packaging representative, production planner with carbon copy to my boss, warehouse IC and regional product development manager:

Subject: Billing of Manpower Charges Of Re-Packing 2 Pallets T2 XL 60 to NTF
Teck Hua,
Learnt of the problem seal of poly bag gussets for the above production. My sympathies.
Suggest that to close this issue, we’ll put up the cost of manpower of 1 day-shift, 1 PT for the repacking works of these 2 pallets to NTF. I’ll be having a tele-conference with the supplier as well as SADEC later this afternoon @ 3 pm. Once you’re agreeable, we’ll proceed to gather this cost. Your advice, please. Thank you.
Nicole,
I believe that ST03 should not complete Red Event form. At best, the finished stock would be on hold and managed by the decision we’ll be making later. I’ll issue our external CAR to the supplier. Thanks.
Muthu & Gajanan,
Only use materials with confidence!
Please assist to make your LPTs & PTs aware of this too. The whole lot/pallet should be rejected, not only the carton of the defective bag. Your packaging PTs should have my cell phone numbers too. Nandri.
Dewi,
Would appreciate your help to provide info on the stock levels of poly bags that’s currently in production for ST 01/02/03 till the end of their run. We’ll then know our exposure if we need to reject the whole lot if there’s misgivings. Thanks.
Zamri & Nazmi,
Vide our last tele-con with NTF, I believe we can cater for NTF to come over next Thursday (18th Jan 07’). We would be grateful if the both of you could make it here as well!
Again, I apologise to everyone if I am stepping out of line. This problem has been recurring in the short 1 month that I’ve been here. We need everyone’s participation in order to vaccinate this. Please contact me if in doubt. As always, thanking you.
Rgds,
jw
Looking at it, my note may seem a little out of my authority. But heck, I don't care who I report to especially when there's an issue to address!
After work, met Su at Gombak MRT Station. We proceeded to Kranji, boarded 170 and made our way to JB. I actually texted her at 2am when I awoke. I realised there was a missed call from her and waking up blurry-eyed, I texted her about going to JB.
Got there in the rain. Nice.. not crowded at all. Walked to City Square, shopped a bit, managed to pray at the 6th level of the mall, then... went to make my specs!!! at RM126 for a half framed pair of red glasses, with prescribed lenses, it was a steal The exchange rate was RM226 to SG$100. Alhhamdulilah! We did not change the $50 I intended to at the arrival side of Kastams. Instead, inside City Square, this money changer swapped my $50 for RM113! Alhamdulilah! Usually they'll not give the stated RM for anything less than $100. But this guy gave me RM113! Alhamdulilah!!! So with the specs at RM126, it's the equivalent of SG$55.75 dollars!!! Yeah!!!
In the hour before we had to collect the glasses, we recceec at some restaurants and finally decided to settle for Kenny Rogers (Su said it's not halal here in Singapore). Had our fill for RM41 something. Su graciously paid for dinner! Thanks baby. And we could hardly move! had fun with the servers! Thought of catching a movie at RM10 per person, but decided it was too late and we were a little tired as well. The next choice was cake! Yeah!!!
Starbucks and Coffee Bean & Tea Leaves had their prices adjusted in JB. So we made our way to Secret Recipe where Su had an Apple Crumble and I had a Chocolate Milk Shake. Wrong move... we both were so full after that! Off to go home!!!
Spoke alot in the bus about somethings that were being presented to me. For the first time in such a long while... we were sitting so close and holding and hugging each other. Alhamdulilah! It felt good...
Insya Allah, there'll be more outings such as this...
