Wallace Plasti-Meter

Today has been an interesting day. One of those mornings where I had to leave the house by 9am (I assure you I almost never do that! What can be so important to leave the house at such an early hour?!). Well, I can only blame myself for pushing all my meetings to be held in one day. They were all in the west. And I mean Tuas kinda west!

Even though I stay in the central part (is Bukit Timah considered central? Most taxi drivers tell me it is, although I can almost swear it's veered towards the north-west), it takes me a good hour and a half to get to Tuas. All right, you got me... I'm too cheap to take a cab. See no sense in paying >$10 for a half hour ride into nowhere, where I can take a bus, and walk for a good 15 minutes. I admit, it's not as comfy as being ferried. Well... cheap is cheap. Cheapo is cheapo!

Anyways, the first meeting didn't go too well. Am not a theory-technical guy (especially when it comes to theories). I am better hands on. Some people just don't seem to see the value in practical skill sets. I am one of those. Although I am a qualified engineer, I never used any of my lessons in school. I was always the odd-one out in discussions. My approach was always to have a look at the machinery instead of the drawings, let it run for a bit, see, hear, touch, feel and more often than not, cajole her to work and not bother me too much. But the fact is, much emphasis has been placed on theorical knowledge. I know nuts about theory.

There was once a motor got in the way of a line that we needed to errect. An irritating eye sore, mechanically, because it served no function. And to take it away would cost more than to have it installed in the first place. My executive decision: build the line right through it. It was a white elephant anyway. There you have it. Prmitive methods? Of course! I prefer to call it getting back to basics.

Ahamdulilah, the second meeting went better than I thought it would. Allah is definately Most Gracious & Most Merciful! I am touched! I have a really strong feeling He sayangs me more than anyone else... hahaha! Ahamdulilah!

Got a text message saying that he (the person) has replied my mail. Ok... didn't know what to do so replied that I'll read and reply it when I get back. I didn't. I fell fast asleep. Didn't wake up when the alarm rang for me to get up to go for maghrib prayers at Ba'alwi. Snoozed it. Su texted: "Wakey Wakey! Time to get up! Are you awake honey?!". I got up immediately, cleaned up, locked the door and called her to thank her for pushing me.

Ahamdulilah! Pak Ali called me when I was on the phone with Su. I almost didn't answer it because I didn't recognise the number (yup... no one calls me anyway). Ahamdulilah He let me have the wisdom to! Insya Allah, we're having Khan's Curry @ Little India this Saturday evening because he's not working that day. Boys night out!

The funny thing about it is with her, I pretty let her get away with most things. Most things, not all. She has this really child-like qualites in her that really endears me through and through. Just makes you fall in love all over again. Love has not taken a back seat. But now, it is more of wanting to do everything right for her.

Was sweating at Ba'alwi (I didn't see the need to change clothes, so I was wearing my long sleeved shirt & pants). Major mistake. Perspired like a little fish swimming in a tank of sharks (ok... no relation... fuck me). And guess who I met?! Pak Rahman! That guy has got to be one of the friendliest people there! At least because he remembers my name! Had a short talk, laughed as we usually do, then I left. Insya Allah I'll meet him again soon! Insya Allah!

Walking home with a million and one things on my mind (ok... only a few lah), and decided to go for a run. Been awhile since I ran. Was glad I did. Oiled my joints like grease on shaft. Felt good. But tired. One of those rare occasions where I get to turn on my boom box for some tunes. Will make an effort to run again more often. Wanna get the $400 for IPPT Gold! Yeah! The $200 mark is too easy. Let's go Daddy-O!

Did my laundry, prayed Ishr, cooked porridge (I took Su's suggestion to extra nuke the porridge. Problem is, Su likes her porridge the same way she like her rice - dry), spoke to Su for a bit, and here I am. Su took her first day of teaching off because she was under the weather. Insya Allah, tomorrow she'll feel better and we can then go to HDBHub to look at the showroom of the proposed Sri Geylang Serai units! Yeah! But we'd rather really find out more about the security of the location. She's been telling me that it's the equilvalent of Chinatown, where "foreign talent" would poach old cheeky farts. Anyway, it's their lives. As long as it doesn't affect me or Su or anyone we know, I'm fine with it. The moment it does, I'll be the meanest, baddest MF they'll ever set their eyes on. But till then, we'll see how it goes. Nothing's firmed as yet.

One more thing. Ahamdulilah! I've learnt of this prayer called the Sunnat Hajat (I used to mis-say it as Sunnat Jahat)! How wonderful it is! I can finally sing to Allah! I can finally sing praises to him! Ahamduliah! Insya Allah, He will give me to strength to continue to do more and more and more (wait... doesn't this sound like a Horlicks ad?! Heck! He created Horlicks! I don't care who holds the patent for the formula!). Ahamdulilah! Submit & be saved! Insya Allah, my ticket to heaven would be paid in the price of my prayers! Save me! Save me! Save me from the horn-tail thingy guy with a pitch fork! Wait.. no need lah. I'll kick his scrawny little ass anyway. Just save me!!!

Think I'll do some reading... or think I'll do more thinking... Insya Allah, I'll receive the wisdom to make the right choices.
