He ain't heavy...

It's been a long day. It's been a hard day. But praise be to Him that we managed to pull through it. Ahamdulilah!

Met Mak Long today after more than a month @ Adam Road Food Centre. She, as usual, was very happy to see me! She even asked me to help her pack 19 packets of chicken rice for her. Ahamdulilah! We spoke for a bit. Business has always been good for her, Ahamdulilah. Insya Allah, it will be so and better! That's why even though I may be there for an hour, we speak for at most 10 minutes. She'll come over to where I sit in short intervals. And the queue never ends there. Today, I was a little lucky... she ran out of rice and needed to cook more! That's how good business is for her.

She was happy to learn that Su & I have been trying to finalise our wedding plans in Masjid Kampung Siglap. Basically, alot of small talk. Oh, I've been planning to open Tuan kee Seafood again. Asked whether she wanted to join in, 50/50. She says she's too old... ya right!

Been to a few places to look at some properties... fought the rain... but it was good. Had my MP3 player with me. Prayed at Masjid Sultan. Oh, one thing about me is that I really hate wearing love pants. I've been decked out in bermudas eversince 04'. I still wear my slippers though. it's only when I started to pray seriously, sometime back in July, that I wore long pants. The word was to use the "Ka'in" aka sarong. I do not know how to tie it, untill today. Could never get it flushed straight down like those oldies in the mosque. But I gave in. Untill 2 weeks ago, I've been bringing it along with me whenever I'm out in bottoms that do not cover my knees. Past that self-concious stage. Who ever laughs at me will get one right between the eyes. Dear Allah, please grant me patience, yet again...

And... for the first time in such a long time since we've dated, I bought Su a cuddly little puppy (soft toy that is). Actually, I've been wanting to give her one for the longest time. Don't know why roses always takes prescedence over it. Anyway, it was scented and well... pretty cute and lovely to handle with it's softer than usual fur. Wrapped i and had the salesgirl do a knot on the bag. Nice... but I was afraid that Su wouldn't like it. Ahamdulilah! I got a few more kisses from her!

The main draw of today's entry really, was what happened yesterday. Su had a couple of friends over (actually, it suddenly became 7!) Rosli, his parents, two Indonesian friends (where they met in 98 or 99 during a ship thingy...), another guy (can't recall his name) with his fiancee. Ok, I planned to cook chicky rice. I had the flu the night before. Took a pill at 5am. Knocked me out till 11am. And I had to prep for lunch by 12. Hmmm... ok... 1 hour to cook for seven people. Nine if you include Su & me. Ten, if you count her mother (Ahamdulilah she was late!).

Ahamdulilah! Everyone managed to eat some of my food. Rosli's mother was very kind with her praises. She's a cook too. And what a compliment to receive from another cook! Ahamdulilah!

Su's mother came in close to two. It was raining heavily. Visibility was poor. But Ahamdulilah, she made it in one piece. I actually extended the invite to her whole family, sister included. But her sister and her husband had something on, Su's granny wasn't feeling well, and therefore Yusof couldn't come too, because he needed to look after her. Anway, Ahamdulilah! Kartini made it!

I was happy she liked the food. Oh... and I fried her favourite "Chai Poh" omelette. Nothing really, just that she's never had anything like that before. And since she liked it the first time, I thought I'd give an encore. Oh, packed them some original chicken rice (four cups of rice!), a one whole chicken. Insya Allah, my food will find favour with her family.

At three, they asked if I wanted to go visiting with them to the house of one of Kartini's cousin. Well, I did have a lot to do, but heck! Time to savour other's food! Ahamdulilah! I was glad that He gave me the sense to go!

Arrived to the flat in Pasir Ris. Was a noisy occasion. But good I guess. Oh, one of Su's married relative is American! Ahamdulilah! Met Omar. Nice lanky guy. A convert too. Ahamdulilah! In the words of Su, "Wa... you guys talking very loud American! No wonder you so happy!"

Four of us did Ashr prayers. Ahamdulilah! I love Jema'ah! I resolve to want to try... to understand what the prayers mean. Another piece of good news (at least for me). I will be attending the BCI (Basic Course in Islam) course tomorrow evening. @ DA. Insya Allah, I will learn more! And Insya Allah, I will not quarrel or lose my temper with anyone! Insya Allah, I will be the same source of inspiration as many have been towards me. I pray hard for this.

Ahamdulilah! I met very nice people there at Pasir Ris! One thing I notice is, when the men talk, the women stay away... Is it culture? Or are we all just too good-looking that the tempation to rip our clothes off our hunky bodies... ok... sorry... forget what I just said. Sounds too stupid, even for me to complete the sentence.

It has been a long, long time since I've had interesting conversations with individuls who are well-read, well-travelled and reasonably educated (ok... I fall into this category). Ahamdulilah! Even though we all had our opinions, we are not narrow minded! Ahamdulilah! And many, many times, I had a good laugh! Ahamdulilah! We spoke about local and global politics, taxi drivers, religion, food, and some other nonsense. Ya Allah! My party was there for close to four hours! Ahamdulilah! Never a dull moment! These are the times that I want to be a good muslim! For it is through their welcome that shows the true spirit of Islam! Ahamdulilah!

It was really fun to be in their company. And Insya Allah, there will be more. Mak Long's eyes actually opened wide when I told her of this. She must still be thinking that I hate everyone's guts! Well... it's been more than two months since I last saw her, so I guess she missed out on a lot of news and development.

Insya Allah, tomorrow will bring better tidings. Insya Allah, He will give me more patience and open up my vision to allow for more light to enter the darkness of my ignorance to people. I love you all (but that don't mean I wanna go any further than that. I am pretty sure there are laws against that kind of thing).

Dear Allah, please bless each and every one of us. The people we meet. The people we've yet to meet. And most of all, please bless all who have not fully accepted Your Word as the Truth, for they are not as fortunate as us, who have seen Your beauty in the people that we have met. Insya Allah, please make us an instrument of Your peace.
