The Marrow of Life

I had my first actual BCI last night. Funny if you come to think of it... I'm already a convert. Well.. I wasn't sober most of the time then... so what better way to end the year with some knowledge ah?!

I was a tad early. Classes was supposed to begin at 8pm. I was there before Maghrib. Duh!!! but was good praying till then... Ahamdulilah!

Ahamdulilah! The class was pretty big! We had close to a full house last night! Almost the same number of boys and girls. A couple of guys came alone. And I saw a malay man bringing along a caucasion! Ahamdulilah!

The teacher was a young and good-looking man. No songkok or gown. Just nice and fashionable working clothes. He speaks very well. Ahamdulilah! I can understand almost everything he said! Lesson fun at first. But after close to an hour and a half, it was bound to get a little dry. I dozed off a couple of times. Than at 930pm, we were introduced to four befrienders, two guys & two girls. We were all given slips of paper that read "B1" (I assume for brother - group 1) & "S1" and so on.

My befriender was Azeez. Nice Pakistani gentleman. The rest are as follows:

Mike - Chinese *Last seen with a young malay girl*
Andi - Chinese *Alone*
Milan - Indian *Huge guy - alone*
Mirza - Malay (I think) *Didn't see him with anyone*
Me - Half Baked Chinese *Alone*
Rothi - Indian (from India. Working as a techincian here) *With a lady companion*
Tham - Chinese *Nice and very friendly guy. Alone*
Lawrence - Indian *With a lady companion*
Faizal - Malay (from Malaysia. His reason for joining us - he wants to know more about Islam. Ahamdulilah!) *Alone (I think)*

Ok... not too bad for a start. Ice-breaking was easy and fun. Everyone participated well and actively. I like. I have a good feeling about this group. Even though we may not all choose the same path, these people are really friendly. Ahamdulilah!

One more thing. Everyone in the group was there because of a romantic interest or are a;ready married to a muslim partner. DA really should keep on it's toes on learning to help manage mixed or inter-faith marriages. And not only providing classes for prayers and tutorials. Get the picture?

I pray hard for Allah to bless each and everyone of us that we would have the discipline to finish this eleven week indoctrination. Insya Allah! We will, if not muslims, be better people, and be wealthier with the knowledge gained. Ameen.
